Throughout the latter half of the 20th century Egypt has battled Israel. In this photo Israelis and Egyptians are in a UN tent at Kilometer 101. In 1967 the Six Day War ended with Israel controlling the Gaza and Sinai peninsula. In 1973, under the leadership of Anwar Sadat, the Yom Kippur War erupted. Before Sadat's assassination in 1981 he worked towards peace with Israel which has continued through the rest of this century. [BM] {UA}
