Violent tension between the Greeks and Turks in Cyprus continued throughout the 1960's and 1970's. This photograph features a Turkish Cypriot refugee camp, 1964. In 1975 the northern portion of Cyprus was proclaimed a separate federation under the Turkish government. The Republic of Cyprus has achieved political and economic stability, while the Turkish sector suffers from a loss of population and a poor economy. [BM] {UA}
