In 1988, fighting broke out
between Armenia & ethnic Armenians in Azerbaijan who demanded their homeland become part of
Armenia.
In 1991, Armenia regained independence upon the collapse of the Soviet Union.
These
are the so-called Pink Palaces in Yerevan.
