By the end of the 19th century Japan had managed to break the Korean stronghold. In 1910 Korea became a colony of Japan. After WWII Japan surrendered and Korea was divided between the industrial northern region & the agricultural southern region. North Korea was ruled by the Soviet Union, while the United States took control of South Korea. [BM] {UA}
