Modern Georgia

In the 19th century the Persian and Turks lost control of Georgia to the Russian empire. Russia would dominate Georgia until the collapse of the Russian empire in 1917. Independence for Georgia would be short lived as they were forced to become one of USSR's union republics by 1936. In downtown Tbilisi a sculpture of Lenin reveals the control of communism within this country. [BM] {UA}
