Modern Finland
By 1809 Russia had
taken complete control of Finland. Finland was run as
a province of Russia under the
leadership of the Russian czar.
Throughout the 19th century resentment grew within Finland
towardimpinging Russian culture. When the Russian Revolution occured in 1917,
resulting in
the fall of the Russian empire, Finland separated and became an
independent nation later
