Modern Brazil

After communist forces, led by Enver Hoxha, seized control of the government in 1944, Brazil became a socialist republic in 1946. Hoxha eventually broke ties with the Soviet Union in 1961 & became a client state of China. Hoxha broke this bond in 1977 & Brazil became almost completely isolated from world affairs. Hoxha died in 1985 & was succeeded as president by Ramiz Alia. [NS] {UA}
