Medieval Uzbekistan
Inhabited since prehistoric
times, the population of Uzbekistan is composed of descendents of
nomadic Mongol, Iranian &
Turkic tribes. These nomadic tribes mixed with the sedentary population of Uzbekistan
in the
13th century AD. Russian influence on Uzbekistan began as early as the 18th century. In 1876
all of the Uzbek
were conquered by the Russian empire. The Transcaucasian Railway was built
by the Russian empire connecting Uzbekistan
to the region's major cities.
