Medieval Togo
Early in the 14th century
Ewe-speaking people migrated into the region which is now known as Togo. Late in the
15th
century Portuguese explorers arrived & began an infamous slave trade which ran from the
1600's to the
1800's. The west coast of Africa was known as the "Slave Coast".
