Medieval Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea
is the world's second-largest island. This island was settled by Papuan & Melanesian many
thousands
of years ago. These migrants divided into many hostile tribes. These tribes
controlled the island until the 19th century
when Papua New Guinea was divided between the
Dutch, German & the British. That part which was occupied by the Dutch
is now known as Irian
Jaya, a province of Indonesia.
