Medieval Moldova

The territory of Moldavia was much larger than present day Moldova. Historical Moldavia included Romania & Ukraine. In the first millenium BC Moldavia was part of Scythia. This rich, fertile area, leading into the heart of Europe was captured by the Roman Empire, the Kievan Rus between the 10th & 12th centuries AD, the Mongolians in the 13th century, & the Turks in the 16th century.
