Through the ages Malta has been ruled by many empires including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, & Byzantines. In the 9th century the Islamic Saracens conquered the islands of Malta. In 1530 the Knights of Malta were granted control of Malta by Charles V. Malta was to escape seige by the Ottoman Turks, finally collapsing to Napolean in 1798. This is Xlendi, Malta. [BM] {UA}
