Medieval Ethiopia
The Portuguese, with
many trading posts along the Red Sea, sent Catholicmissionaries to Ethiopia as early as the
15th century. Without being able
to gain a foothold all foreign missionaries were expelled
from Ethiopia
in the 1630's.
