Medieval Belgium

In the Middle Ages, Belgium was part of the powerful Duchy of Burgundy. In 1830 the Belgians revolted against the Dutch. Then, in 1831, the Treaty of London recognized Belgium as an Independent Kingdom. During the 19th Century, their unity was divided between Catholic & Liberal parties & language separation between the Dutch & the French. [BA] {UA}
