In modern law circles a tort is a wrong committed by one person against another person, his property, or reputation. It does not matter whether it was intentional or unintentional. Tort law encompasses both criminal and civil cases as is obvious. Therefore, once a person has ben tried for a crime against society he can be tried for liability of an injury (or vice versa).
