Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
The national government had two
chambers as many Democratic
countries do. However, the Communist Party dominated every
aspect of daily life. Politics was not
separated from the economy. They were subject to the
same ruling body. Communism in the USSR
failed. In 1991 the USSR was dissolved as the states
declared their independence one by one. The
economy was in dire straits as most people were
poverty stricken. Led by Mikhail Gorbachev,
reform was swiftly changing the face of the
country. A busy Russian street holds great promise for
tomorrow. Back to
the Birth of Communism.
