Scarcity
Man's increasing demand for basic needs, such as food and shelter, eventually
resulted in a shortage or scarcity of these materials.
Through collective effort and
specialization these problems were solved but resulted in more complex social issues.
Barter
involves a straight exchange of goods for goods, but often the value of the goods were
difficult to compare.
The abstract concept of money arose to bring order to the transactions
that were becoming a way of life.
