Early Israel
Israel is a land rich in history. In
ancient times it was known as the Land of Canaan. Canaan was home to one
of the oldest
agricultural civilizations in the Middle East. Hebrews, exiled in Egypt, returned to Israel
in
1200BC to establish a powerful kingdom. This kingdom was ruled by great lords such as
King Saul & King David.
Under these rulers Israel expanded & dominated the Philistines, a
seafaring people. Jerusalem became
the capital.
