The Huns
(316-370AD)
The Huns were a nomadic peoples that originally lived their lives on the steppes
of the
far east as farmers. When these tribes
combined the resulting army was a destructive
force that could easily attack and if
necessary retreat anywhere. In 316AD, the Huns invaded
Northern China. These raids
eventually led to the construction of the Great Wall of China.
This large Nomadic force
made its way west invading India and Persia in the year 350AD. In
370AD the Huns
appeared in Europe for the first time. They came upon the Goths who were
attacked and
defeated. The Ostrogoths became part of the Hun army and the Visigoths were
driven into
Roman territory starting the first Barbarian invasions.
