Celtics and Romans
(390BC-52BC)
The greatest Celtic military accomplishment occurred in 390BC when
Brennus, a Celtic
King, sacked the city of Rome. This event embarrassed Romans and was
remembered and
reflected upon many centuries later by Julius Caesar when he all but wiped
the Celts from
the face of Europe during the Gallic wars starting in 58BC. A great Celtic
leader
Vercingetorix attempted to lead the Celts against the Romans but he was defeated in
52BC.
