The Celtic people first appeared around 2000BC. We first heard of Celts from Greek and Roman writers who called these blond-haired blue-eyed men Gauls. The people of the Classical world saw Celts as quick to do battle and ferocious in combat yet easy to outsmart. Between the years 1000BC and 750BC Celtic culture and language dominated almost all of Europe. The Celtic peoples had a society based on heroism and warfare but much of their time was really spent farming. [RB] {CB}
