Ancient Albania
After
being colonized by the Greeks in 625BC, Albania became the Roman province of Illyricum.
When
Rome fell, Albania was fought over by Byzantines, Normans, Venetians, Slavs, & the Kings of
Naples.
Initially, Albania fought off Turkish invasions, but it fell to the Ottoman Empire
in 1478.
