Oort Cloud
In 1950, Jan Hendrik Oort suggested that comets originate in a great spherical cloud which surrounds the solar system. This cloud is 10,000 times farther from the Sun than the planet Pluto and is now called the Oort Cloud.
It is composed of billions of comets which are thought to be the oldest samples of the material of which the solar system formed. [VH] {CO}
