Cloud
A cloud is a temporary form of condensed moisture in the air. Cloud produce
precipitation and are part of the water cycle. They also manage the istribution of heat
over the surface of the Earth by absorbing and dispersing the sun's rays.
Clouds are classified using a similar system to the animal kingdom. The first
four divisions (families) are based on their height above the ground: high clouds, middle
clouds, low clouds, and clouds that may extend through all levels. The families are further
divided into genera, species, and varieties.
Over 100 kinds of clouds have been classified. Each division tells us something about
the cloud's appearance and the way it was formed.
