Drought
Drought is a condition of abnormally dry conditions in an area
where
precipitation is normally expected. When there is little or no rain
reservoirs and wells dry
up, and crops suffer. It is this hydrologic
imbalance that defines a drought. Less than 14
days without rain is often
called a "dry spell," whereas a drought can last up to several
years.
