Shaker Textile - Design
Shaker weavers, working within the guidelines of the Millennial Laws,
designed textiles that combined form and function. Embodying the Shaker
credo, "Beauty rests on utility", fabrics exemplified simple grace,
pleasing proportions and clean, clear visual lines.
Uniformity of technique and excellence in weaving skill, were part of the profound impact the Shakers had on the development of textile craftsmanship.
