FRENCH CANADIAN CATALOGNE Catalogne is a type of weaving that gained popularity in early French Canada. Cloth was very scarce in the pioneer home. Every scrap of material from old clothes and household items was reused. Cloth scraps were cut into strips. The cloth strips and handspun wool were woven into the new catalogne fabric. Catalogne bed and floor coverings were very colourful and unique. [SB] {KM}
