The Human Figure
The human figure as subject matter, first used as an artistic motif by the Greeks who saw their gods as perfect human
beings, has changed greatly over the centuries.
Whereas the Greeks appreciated the human body as both an aesthetic
and sensuous form, contemporary creations can reveal the fragility or temporality of bodily existence.
This
sculpture can be found in Ottawa, Canada.
