The Classical Period, from 450 to 400BC, marked the realization of the ideal form. Myron sculpted the discus thrower known as Discobolus originally in bronze around 450BC. This Roman copy in marble still shows the classic lines, original posing and sense of motion of Myron's work. [NS] {SW}
