Ancient cave paintings are not the oldest forms of art. Round and bulging female figures have been discovered in many places in Europe and western Asia. This powerful image is one of the earliest stone sculptures of the female nude in the history of world art. Other early sculpture includes reliefs such as this dating back to 1250 BC. Found in Turkey the images depict gods and goddesses of Yazilikaya. [MH] {NR}
