THE THINKER BY RODIN Rodin rescued sculpture from mechanical reproduction. 3-D forms dissolved into flickering patches of light and dark because of the welts and wrinkled creased surface created by Rodin. Figures became distorted and suffered from inner agony. These effects allowed inert matter to come to life with emotion. [MH] {GB}
