Michelangelo
In "David" by Michelangelo, the human image is used as the supreme vehicle of expression. It is huge
in size and superhuman in its muscular perfection. The contrapposto pose and action in repose clearly
expresses the emotion of David. The sculpture has been done in a highly idealised form rather than
naturalised for expressive purposes. Early artists were very rigid in mathematical and natural laws
