SQUARE BY MEININGER-IN THE STYLE OF MONDRIAN

De Stijl is Dutch for The Style, a non-representational style started by Piet Mondrian(1872-1944). The possibility of representation was eliminated through the restriction to vertical and horizontal black lines and the three primary hues(red, blue and yellow) plus black, white and gray. This style completely relied on design and the elimination of all feeling and emotion which was the exact opposite of Expressionism. [MH] {GB}
