Features of Neo-Classical Art I
The features of these paintings were clarity, a smooth polished surface, staged allegory, austere subject matter.
Neo-Classical made the art "weep".
The subject matter began to have profound meaning, serving as allegory for the social issues of the time.
Instead of being meaningless like Rococo it was serious, emotional and raised issues.
It was a time to dismantle the silly Aristocracy and liberate reason.
