The 60's and 70's

Rock continued to shock. After the stunned silence following the Kennedy assassination came the shot-in-the-arm injection of the Beatles and the British beat invasion. No sooner had the world recovered from that another rock-inspired revolution occurred. Against the background of the Vietnam war, the peace and love of the hippy era had it's start in the rock music of the time. There would have been no flower-power subculture without the festivals including the original Woodstock, the west-coast sound, no psychedelic magic without the music. [AW] {BM}
