Renaissance
CONCERT CHAMPETRE In the Renaissance (15th-17th Century), the chants were much the same, as was the topic material. However, church music at this time became saturated with musical setting. Almost every section had a theme to go with it, and composers of church music were no longer asking for spare change in the slums of Europe. Men like Giovanni Palestrina, Guillaume Dufay, and Thomas Vittoria made futures and fortunes in the church music trade. This renaissance painting by Giorgione is entitled "Concert Champetre".
