In March of 1956, after releasing his first single 'Heartbreak Hotel', the critics called Elvis the wild and turbulent rocker. Reactions were mixed towards his new style of music, and his dancing(some called him Elvis the Pelvis). Born in Memphis, Tn., his hometown nick-name was the 'Hillbilly Cat'. Described as dark, slinky, the record label RCA could not pass up an investment opportunity, and by April of the above year, he had been signed, and 8 chart-topping hits were to follow before he was drafted into the U.S. Armed Forces.
