The original rock D.J. Alan Freed said pop music was defined by "that which is so cool, that people dig it enough to put it in a movie." It must be understood that at this time in the 50's, colour movies had only been possible for 11 years. People dreamed of Hollywood as a fantasy world, more so than today.
