INDUSTRIAL This style has been referred to as the most extreme rock-era production. It is 20 years old, subversive, noisy, shocking, distasteful, and often pornographic. Industrial is the dark, disturbed, alter-ego of punk-rock. The start of Industrial music came in England, boredom of music of the time and a social discontent led a man named Genesis P. Orridge to call his music industrial in 1975. In his basement called the Death Factory, he experimented with textural noise, dialogue snippets, voice through guitar effects, and other concepts to attempt to convey through music the situation of his surrounding. The Death Factory had actually been a mass grave for people who had fallen to the plague in the 17th Century. [AW] {NR}
