Bowing
In normal performance, a bow of horse-hair is pushed or pulled across the strings at a right angle,
which causes vibrations.
By stopping the string with the fingers at various positions on the fingerboard,
the player lengthens or shortens the vibrating length, which produces the various pitches to create music.
