Often 4 minute songs for orchestra were combined with others to make a "set" which would be played over an evening. The trick was to select tunes which complimented each other. The term set would be loosely applied to the next genre of music, (aside from folk music which has and always will be there) what the Classicalists call noise, they called Jazz. [AW] {NR}
