Baroque 2
Overtures establish a mood for which the setting of the acting and vocal music may develop comfortably.
It was not until after 1650 that a recognisable pattern of overture emerged duly called the "French Style" named after it's creator Lully.
The system divided the overture into two parts.
The first part a stately introduction, with slow progressions and tempo.
The second a quicker principal section often at an Allegro speed.
As this style of music captured those who could afford to make it, it began to collect a history of
its own, and soon it would turn into the Classics. This painting "Yvonne and C. Lerolle at the Piano" was created
by Auguste Renoir.
