TRADITIONAL GEORGIAN DANCERS In every age and among every race people have danced. In Europe every country, such as these traditional Georgian dancers, had it's folk dances that have grown up among the peasant people. These folk dances were taken up by the town people, aristocrats, and monarchs who found as much enjoyment from them as the poor. Composers then began to write music in the style of dance, but not for dancing itself. These pieces were called Minuets. In the early 19th Century, one of the most common dances was the Waltz. Later, Jazz would take the spotlight for dancing, and ballet is still performed today. [AW] {NR}
