At 29 Sullivan began to collaborate with W.S. Gilbert, a clever humorous playwright. Together they wrote and scored H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, Patience, Iolanthe, Princess Ida, The Mikado, The Yeoman of the Guard, and The Gondoliers. They were one of the greatest composition machines in Music History.
