Sent to Vienna at 22, he studied under Haydn, and Mozart was said to have told others this about Beethoven. "He will give the world something worth listening to!" 38 sonatas for piano, 10 for violin and piano, 9 symphonies, and much other music this genius offered for the world. Due to ill health, at the age of 30, he began to go deaf, and for the last 5 years, he could hear only in his imagination, and after performances the nearest musician would have to turn him around to see the crowd in full applause.
