Novel

A novel is a considerably long fictional prose narrative that has a plot or pattern of events that is told by the actions, speech, and thoughts of the characters.
Some examples are John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, and Margaret Atwood's The Edible Woman. [AM] {BD}
They deal with human experience and are usually connected through a sequence of events involving a group of persons in a specific setting. There are many different types and styles of novels some are picaresque, epistolary, Gothic, romantic, realist, and historical. [RA] {CL}
