Mask, National Archaeological Museum, Athens Aristophanes is the most famous of ancient Greece's comedic playwrights. He began his career in 427BC at the age of 23. The Banqueters was the first of 40 plays which Aristophanes wrote. Aristophanes was a pacifist. Through his works he mocked war, politicians and anything else of social importance in Athens. Some of his works include: The Frogs, Women In Parliament and The Peace. This mask is in the National Archaeological Museum, Athens. [AL] {BR}
