The Theatre of the Absurd
The Theatre of the Absurd is a new form of theatre which has developed over the latter half of the 20th Century.
It totally destroys all conventional boundaries of theatre.
Its plays have no obvious plot; the characters are, at times, unrecognisable; actions often contradict words; and no theme can be identified.
The plays resemble dreams or nightmares, with confusing images and quickly changing scenes.
The Theatre of the Absurd reflects the illogical and senseless nature of the world, as seen by its playwrights.
Some of whom are: Samuel Beckett, Eugene Ionesco, and Jean Genet.
