Drama began in North America during the early 18th Century, with the arrival of many English actors. One of the first theatres was built in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1716. The Theatre met some opposition by the Puritan church, but, by the end of the century, it was fully established. The theatre production in this photograph is "Nicholas Nickleby". [AL] {EB}
