Opera

Opera was one of the most popular styles produced during the birth of drama in Italy. It stemmed from attempts to imitate the choruses of Greek Theatre, and immediately became a great success. By 1607, Claudio Monteverdi had composed Orfeo, which established the basic form all operas would follow. The first Opera House was opened to the public in 1637 in Venice. The Sydney Opera House is the most outstanding feature to the Sydney, Australia skyline. [AL] {EB}
